APPEAL DENIED

From the Dispatch:

A court has denied the appeal of a former Dublin high school lacrosse coach who was convicted in February of pressuring a player to recant claims that he was sexually assaulted by two other coaches.
Frank Simpson, 58, was convicted of witness intimidation, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was sentenced to pay the maximum fine of $1,000 plus court costs.
The Franklin County Court of Appeals upheld that decision on Thursday.
The Ohio Board of Education permanently revoked Simpson’s coaching permit in October.
Simpson was a volunteer coach for the Dublin Coffman boys lacrosse team in March 2006 when a player said he was sexually assaulted on the team bus during a trip to Memphis, Tenn.
According to prosecutors, Simpson’s son, Greg Simpson¹, held the player down while coach Dustin Pentz inserted fingers into his rectum.
Pentz, 27, and Greg Simpson, 29, face felony aggravated rape and misdemeanor assault charges in the Shelby County Criminal Court in Tennessee.
Frank Simpson, who was not on the bus when the student said he was attacked, pressured the player to recant his claim during a team locker-room meeting.
The player, now a 20-year-old sophomore at Ohio University, testified in January that Frank Simpson said during the meeting that he would “resist any charges that would be brought up.”

¹- I think this is a sad sad situation on all sides I hope these people can regain respect they lost in the community. Greg Simpson is not a malicious person just a joke gone horribly wrong that in no way shouldbe condoned

all of these defendants are great people who would never hurt anyone...just unfortunate that their lives have suffered so much for something that is un-factual.

Unfactual? You don't know the facts. This did happen and those responsible will be held accountable in a court of law.

A joke gone wrong? Since when is rape a joke gone wrong? If this had been done to a girl, oh what a different story we'd be reading. But a male athlete is supposed to take this as a joke? It's rape. Go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

If right is right and wrong is wrong...Then you should know your facts!
Is anonymous #1 aware that approx.
20 athletes were on the bus and gave statements all concurring that it did happen. Why else would Dublin Schools have fired them. Why else would Dublin Police have charged them and the Memphis Grand Jury have indicted them. You don't see the schools getting sued for negligent firing do you?
Great people??? Huh, they have obviously fooled you! And apparently many other members of our community. Too bad. Believe me they have not suffered yet. When they are convicted and go to prison, then tell me about there suffering ...I won't care then either. When they have done to them what they did to a student who trusted them they will just begin to get what they deserve. Those who think they are so innocent need to take a long hard 2nd look! I have faith that Memphis will do their job and they will be found guilty!!
