Ohio's (esp Columbus) Painkiller use SKYROCKETS
"The use of three major painkillers more than quadrupled in Ohio between 1997 and
2005, according to an Associated Press analysis of statistics from the U.S. Drug
Enforcement Administration. Oxycodone use in Ohio rose 689 percent, while
morphine and hydrocodone use both increased 149 percent. Oxycodone includes
Oxycontin and Percodan. Hydrocodone includes Vicodin and Lortab.
The oxycodone and morphine figures were boosted by growth rates in Columbus, where oxycodone use skyrocketed 1,227 percent and morphine use jumped 302 percent. It was the highest increase in Ohio, while Cleveland and Cincinnati had some of the lowest increases in the state.
The national average increases for oxycodone and morphine were 591 percent and 154 percent, respectively.Meanwhile, Ohioans' use of codeine and meperidine -- better known by the brand name Demerol-- declined at a greater rate than national averages. Codeine use fell 33 percent, while meperidine dropped 37 percent. [READ MORE]

Haters wanna HATE, Lovers wanna love
This is kanye's response to Beanie Siegel calling him out on how he dresses. Siegel then went on to make the declaration that he thinks that West is a homosexual and that he should “come out of the closet”.
West first responded to the attacks by Siegel on a separate radio interview. (vid courtesy of smack dvd)
50 cent is selling the ginormous house he bought from Mike Tyson a while back and rumored to be looking to purchase a pad in...Atlanta's tony Buckhead area. Why? maybe to be closer to a special someone(ciara?).

Whiskey tango Spears does like her lollipops. Apparently these are "special" pops. She got hooked on ones laced with weed a while back and now she's moved up to one laced with a drug stronger than morphine. It's called fentanyl citrate and its prescribed to treat sever pain in cancer patients. Nothing like a little bit o that to amp up the craaazy factor.

Around Ohio
So now that Frankie Coleman pled no contest to 2 misdemeanor charges and she has to serve 100 community service hours and fines to pay, which organization will she commit her time to? I think she should work with an homeless organization that helps addicts. Maybe she could work with kids to give them first hand how a little too much at the Brownstone bar can have serious ramifications. Whatever she chooses, we hope she can gain something positive from it.
Cincinatti based Kroger Co, the largest supermarket chain, joins a list of 13 companies taking advantage of the Federal Reserve's ease on the market slump. They plan on selling 10 year notes to raise $300 million.
Brutus Buckeye, the mascot of The Ohio State University, is part of the finalists vying for a bid in the Mascot Hall of Fame. Voting lasts til September 6 and the other mascots are: Michigan State's "Sparty" Nebraska "Lil Red" Tennesse "Smokie" University of Miami "The Ibus" and Western Kentucky University "BigRed."
In Cincinatti, a woman shot and killed a panhandler because he asked her .25cents. They can be annoying maybe sometimes smelly, but an idiotic shooting? no one deserves that.
Browsing on the web and inspired by a previous gawker post, i came upon this- ugh sick sick sick!

Antenna magazine is a new mens shopping magazine that describes itself as:
"The first mainstream magazine to target individuals who are on a constant quest for the newest and coolest products on the horizon. And it does so without using celebrities, models, concept shoots, service stories and whatever else we deem superfluous to our mission: to become a guidebook, allowing readers to navigate the most extensive collection of products ever compiled in a single publication, while championing the people who create, sell and collect them—all in one comprehensive, artful, elegant and innovative format. Featuring everything from dress shirts and cellphones to jeans and graphic T’s, Antenna is considered to be a non-disposable magazine in a disposable world. And you cannot ask for more than that."

Ol' Skool Tuesday 2for1
Looking at these videos it seems the 80's never really left. The only thing that differentiates then from now is HD and maybe less hairspray. With the resurgence of all things 80's does this decade really have a defining fashion and or trend that is not recyled from another? House of Holland tees, PVC Cheap Monday jeans, multicoloured bangles, assymetrical haircuts. How longs is the 80's going to define the 2000's? Really, what was/is the unique trend of the 2000? If we are to immerse in all things 80's can someone PLEASE bring back the gumby? or maybe just the side fade?

Bit's and pieces
This is SJP's new commercial for her second perfume Covet. I am not quite sure what i think of this commercial has it has a bit of one flew over thecuckoo's nest and a bit of Carrie in Paris feel to it. The dress is wayy over the top in a I wish i could afford couture manner.
Kenneth Cole will guest star on the upcoming season of "Ugly Betty" he will play himself and his episode is said to air sometime in October

Business
Nokia, the world largest mobile(cell) phone maker doubled their 2nd quarter profits. The gain is attributed to the company's joint venture with Siemens AG
Viacom, parent company to MTV and Paramount pictures, exceeded profit estimates and earned A LOT!! This is amid the bitter public feud between owner/chairman Sumner Redstone(pictured above) and his daughter Shari was to be heir to the empire but not anymore. The purchase of Dreamworks studio also help boost profits.
Chicago based Boeing won a bid from Ukrainian Airlines for 7 planes with an estimated cost of $523 million.
The FDA/Imported Asian food probe continues. There are reports now of farm raised seafood with disturbing amounts of antibiotics banned in the US like fluoroquinolones(phew mouthful!). The effect they have on humans are they can be cancer causing and also antibiotic resistant. The FDA was also trying to close down several testing laboratories but they have put a hold on that at this time. That's why EVERYONE should shop local (Farmer's markets are this best this season) Also organic sometimes does not mean safe. Shop with care.

Don't get caught
Very interesting article from WSJ: Ways to keep the suits and IT guys out of your "work dealings." a.)You can send large files through YouSendIt Inc or SendThisFile Inc without being traced but susceptible to hacking. b) Even if your company won't let you visit those sites by typing their Web addresses into your browser, you can still sometimes sneak your way onto them. You travel to a third-party site, called a proxy, and type the Web address you want into a search box. Then the proxy site travels to the site you want and displays it for you -- so you can see the site without actually visiting it. Proxy.org, for one, features a list of more than 4,000 proxies.
Another way to accomplish the same thing, from Mr. Frauenfelder and Ms. Trapani: Use Google's translation service, asking it to do an English-to-English translation. Just enter this -- Google.com/translate?langpair=enen&u=www.blockedsite.com -- replacing "blockedsite.com" with the Web address of the site you want to visit. Google effectively acts as a proxy, calling up the site for you.
