For fall, Jacobs is ditching his long-time spot on the calendar(Monday night at 9 or twoish hours later) for Friday night, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. Once again, it will be held at the New York State Armory on Lexington Avenue.
Robert Duffy on Wednesday confirmed the switch, saying he wanted "to give Marc as much time as possible to have the best show possible." As for the scheduled 7 p.m. start, Duffy said he hopes it will prove more convenient for their audience. "It's a nightmare for my sales team. They are used to seeing everyone during fashion week," he noted. "But I'd rather we be inconvenienced than everyone else."
Duffy explained that one of the biggest complaints in the past has been the show's chronic late start keeps people from having dinner. "I cannot guarantee that Marc won't be late," he said. "One thing I do know is that he will try to have the best show he can, and [to do that] he will want to finish every piece and make each one as beautiful as possible. If it comes late, it comes late. This way, even if he's two hours late, people can still go to dinner at 9 or 9:30.
"I really want to try to make it as convenient as possible for everybody, and to keep Marc calm and everybody who wants to see the show calm," Duffy continued. "I'm hoping people won't be as angry if late means 9 rather than 11. And hopefully, he'll start at 7."
maybe suzy menkes got her point across or Wontour walking out mid show did it.
