CMC pm RECAP

The event last night hosted by the Capital Club YEB, YPC and CMC at the Capital Club was actually better than we expected. Pete Scantland let the audience know that he is quiet versed in zoning codes now and they are beginning to expand outside of Columbus. The reason why Orange Barrel has succeded is because it is viral and humorous advertising, it gets people talking.

When asked what the risk versus rewards were in their venture into entrepreneurship: Liz Lessner stated that the reward was impacting change in her community, she emphasized the fact that they recycle on a constant basis and she is working with city leaders to bring recycling efforts to downtown. Pete Scantland stated the reward for him was his employees. They are hoping to debut their Broad&High collaboration by Dec. 20

Mo Wright has the 3 R's: Realism(what are we capable of offering), Results(can you deliver?) and Relationship(networking), he said those are key things to have when venturing into establishing your own business.
Jin Fillinger, who has not been in business as long as the others, emphasized that she decided to open her business here affect change in the boutique fashion retail industry here in the city. Her target customer is an uninhibited female wanting to look good but also having trust in the stylist.
The consensus it seems from all four was that they want to be great business owners and grow their respective companies. The session was inspiring even if anyone in attendance was not immediately thinking of opening their own business.
