SKYBUS GETS OK TO FLY FLORIDA FROM N.H

The operators of the Portsmouth (N.H.) International Airport on Sept. 20 approved Skybus' request to allow the Columbus-based airline to serve two unspecified Florida markets from there

All of the current markets Skybus serves connect in Columbus. Skybus' two daily flights mark the only full-sized aircraft serving New England and the Greater Boston market through Portsmouth.
The airline currently flies from Port Columbus to the Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, Fla. markets through St. Augustine/St. Johns County Airportcq. It also flies between Port Columbus and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood (Fla.) International Airport.
Skybus in December also will begin service to Charlotte County Airport in Punta Gorda, a southwest Florida market near Sarasota.

Green said the nonstop Florida service comes as statistics show most passengers traveling from New Hampshire to Columbus actually board another plane to either Skybus' West Coast destinations or to Florida.
He said the airport, which gets mainly regional jet service, hopes to gain even more point-to-point service without a Columbus connecting flight.
"If Skybus is successful, I'm sure we'll grow with them," he said.
